I love projects, and there’s too many things I’ve started and not had the time to complete over the years. Plus I’m now a father to an energetic toddler so have a little less time than before for these, but I’ve picked a few here to mention:
Brixton Book Group (now running for 20 years) which is London’s biggest book group with thousands of members online, and enough people to comfortable fill a pub and a half at every meeting. We’ve been featured on Japanese TV, run our own annual book award that’s more fun than the booker and we have an accompanying line in merch.
Tweet your MP was a project to build an easy to use campaigning platform to engage people with their elected representatives. It was used by the Istanbul Convention Change campaign backed by Emma Watson, who’s tweet launched the platform. Many campaigns – including 3 successful laws through the UK parliament and organisations used the system. Sadly following the changes at Twitter, I decided to put the project on pause in 2023.
MakeThingsWith.com – I love to make things with a 3d printer and Raspberry Pi technology. The ability to dream up something, print it out and then give it quite sophisticated abilities using a Pi or a Pico will never cease to be exciting. Most of my 3d models are available on my Printables page.
Still, the most popular thing I’ve ever designed is a coat button.
